[book club] What if trying to 'fix' myself makes me feel worse?

It's book club time again people!

For those of you wondering what that means... Once a month till the end of the year, this club becomes a global 'book club for feelings'.

Except we don't actually read any books. We just talk feelings, through the internet.

It's a chance to chat with other Big Feels Clubbers - online or in real life - about some of the biggest feelings-related questions. Read on for this month's topic, and how you can join in.

So what's on the menu?

Each month we serve up...

*An appetiser*: A carefully tailored big gooey question about life, the universe, and feelings

*The main course*: A curated package of things to listen to about that big, gooey question

AND...

*The all-Important dessert*: The chance to unpack it all with other Big Feels Clubbers, in our closed Facebook group, or at our real life Melbourne meet-up.

NOTE: Some people dive in and eat every course. Others just cherry pick the bits that look tastiest.

This month's big gooey question...

...is about as big and gooey as they come:

What if trying to 'fix' myself makes me feel worse?

Our society often thinks about distress and big feelings as a problem that needs fixing.

This way of thinking can come from the people around us, who give us the message that our big feelings don't fit. Or it can come from ourselves, in those times when we desperately *want* a fix, because things are just too damn hard right now.

We answer the really burning questions in this month's book club, like what's the best method for collecting your tears??

How to join in

To take part in this month's book club, head over here to our website:

There you'll find links to two things we've put together for you to listen to on this topic.

Plus you'll find all the info you need to join our closed Facebook group for this month's discussion, and (for Melbournians) ***our real-life meet-up on September 1st***. Woop!

If you'd rather just listen to our dulcet tones, you can skip straight to the podcast we made on this topic: what if trying to 'fix' myself makes me feel worse?

This one jumps off from the first bit of listening we set for this month's book club (a brilliant episode of the podcast Invisibilia on this same topic) but you'll get the general idea:
